Web Developers need highly technical and creative skills to use specialist coding and software applications in the design of websites. This Industry is constantly evolving and web design is a highly sought after skill set.
In this competition, competitors must design and code a valid and responsive website. They will be assessed on their ability to create effective and accurate design documentation, using wireframes which reflect the final product. They will also need to demonstrate the ability to code up valid web pages (according to good coding standards) as well as cascading style sheets to control the appearance of the elements of the web page. Client-side scripting should be used to add animation and interactivity plus provide a complex validation function to validate key input to a detailed constructed contact form.
They must demonstrate how to ensure a web site can be responsive to ensure it can be seen in both browsers and mobile devices with only one style sheet to control both browser and mobile devices. This can be achieved through the use of supplied libraries, or their own CSS code. At this stage you will not be expected to work with server-side scripting.
On this page you will be able to download further details on this years competition activity. These can be found in the competition brief.
