Skills Competition Wales
Over the past 6 months COVID-19 has affected us all, with many significant changes to our lifestyles and the way we operate. Despite this however, we have been busy in the background planning ahead for a successful delivery of Skills Competition Wales.
Earlier this year, you’ll recall we were faced with cancelling our celebration event for the 2019/20 medallists. In an effort to celebrate their achievements our finalists received their medals and award certificates in the mail, with a letter accompanied by the Minister for Economy and Transport, Ken Skates. We warmly congratulate all our winners and wish them luck with their next steps in life.
Looking ahead, we have been busy during the COVID-19 lockdown preparing for next year’s Skills Competition Wales cycle. With collaboration from staff across Wales we have held over 40 virtual Steering Group meetings to discuss and design new Briefs for all competitions; we thank you for your engagement.
Of course, whilst we are planning for the best we understand we are operating in uncertain times. Health and Safety is at the forefront of our decision making, and as such we will continue to monitor government guidance closely and work with our partners to ensure a safe competition environment.
For now, we continue to drive forward our delivery model for the 2020/21 competition cycle with registrations opening on November 23rd 2020 and closing on December 14th 2020.
We are looking forward to receiving lots of new applications and are excited to witness the talent we have here in Wales at our next Skills Competition Wales events.
