This CPD session is designed to support educators in carpentry and joinery, helping them understand the combined competition format that merges elements of both trades into a more integrated assessment model.
The session will cover:
Tolerances, time management, and preparation
Marking and assessment exercises
Best practice in UK and international competitions
Support for competitors before and during events
The shift toward a combined skills model in competitions
Demonstrations of tools, techniques, and joint practices across both trades
Guidance on preparing learners for success under the new structure
Expert insights on adapting teaching methods to reflect these changes
This CPD session is suitable for educators across Further Education and Work-Based Learning who want to expand their knowledge of carpentry and joinery techniques, strengthen learner preparation, and adapt teaching practice to meet evolving assessment standards.
Please note: places may be limited to ensure a practical, hands-on learning experience.
