Inspiring Skills Excellence in Wales, in partnership with the School of Applied Computing, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, invites educators, lecturers, and their students to join our IT Network Systems Technician Skills Training Programme.
This programme is designed for Year 12, Year 13, Level 3, and first-year degree students who are keen to gain hands-on experience and develop in-demand networking skills, and is also a valuable opportunity for lecturers and teachers to enhance their knowledge and support their curriculum.
Educator Attendance and Class Registration: We strongly encourage lecturers and teachers to attend to explore the content and potentially integrate it into your teaching. You can register a group of students to attend as a class through your e-mail address.

Session Details
1. Introduction to Networks and Networking Devices – Packet Tracer
Date & Time: 5 November 2025, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
An introduction to the basics of computer networks and key networking devices such as routers and switches. This session will include Cisco Packet Tracer, a simulation tool used to design, configure, and troubleshoot networks. Suitable for beginners looking to understand how networks function and gain practical experience.
2. IP Addressing and Subnetting
Date & Time: 12 November 2025, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
A session on the essentials of IP addressing and subnetting, critical for designing and managing networks. It will cover IPv4 addressing, subnet masks, and efficient network division. Students will gain practical knowledge to apply in real-world scenarios.
3. Securing Networks
Date & Time: 19 November 2025, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
An overview of network security fundamentals and best practices to protect networks from threats. Tailored for beginners, this session will also provide guidance on securing network devices and preparing for networking competitions.
