Coleg Sir Gar has delivered the Inspiring Skills Excellence in Wales project (Phase 1 and 2) in collaboration with a pan-Wales Network over the past 5 years. This project aims to raise the profile of vocational skills in Wales and drive forward a skills agenda that will fulfil the requirements of education and industry in Wales today.
To achieve this aim, the project delivers across three strands, Have a Go Wales, Skills Competition Wales and WorldSkills UK Wales.
Have a Go: Through the delivery of the Have a Go Initiative, the project delivers engaging and participative activities to young people in Wales to raise aspirations and awareness of vocational pathways. The initiative sees a broad range of vocational skills equipment being utilised within a wide range of settings, such as schools and exhibition venues.
Skills Competition Wales: Skills Competition Wales consists of a series of local skills competitions, aligned to WorldSkills competitions and the needs of the Welsh economy. Skills Competition Wales aims to raise the profile of skills in Wales and offers students, trainees and apprentices in Wales a chance to challenge, benchmark and raise their skills by taking part in competitions across a range of sectors. These competitions are free to enter and typically run between January and March each year.
WorldSkills UK Wales - International Competition Support; WorldSkills UK Wales aims to improve the prospects of students in Wales to gain entry to Squad and Team UK, to represent Wales at International level competitions and provides the supportive infrastructure required to enable competitors from Wales to achieve success at these competitions.
As project lead, the Coleg Sir Gar wish to appoint an Administration Officer to support with the day-to-day delivery of the project, with specific responsibility for Skills Competition Wales.
The successful candidate will be a well-organised individual with excellent administrative and interpersonal skills and experience of working and communicating with numerous partners and stakeholders. The post-holder will be required to occasionally work evenings and weekends, and may on occasion also be required to travel both in the UK and abroad.
